The trailer is out for a new Netflix documentary film called The Mars Generation, titled after well-known aspiring astronaut Abigail “Astronaut Abby” Harrison’s organization of the same name.
The doc features a group of young space dreamers who individually and collectively hope to be some of the first to step foot on the Red Planet.
About the film:
For centuries, the red planet has captured our imaginations. And today, the possibility of a manned mission to Mars has never been closer. Bill Nye, Neil deGrasse Tyson and a new generation of space enthusiasts come together to explore the potential of human life on Mars. Streaming exclusively on Netflix May 5, 2017.
The trailer focuses on the famous Space Campoperated by the in U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama, as a sort of starting point for young astronaut dreamers (though note: there’s also Adult Space Academy!) and showcases some of the nonstop hard work that some of the aspirants have already done, like Abby and fellow astronaut hopeful and motivational speaker Alyssa Carson.
The aspiring astronauts and scientists in the film will talk about their inspirations, dreams, and career goals, and the steps they’re taking to make those goals a reality. It looks like we’ll also see much of them in their very element, in gyroscopes, centrifuges, and other spaceflight simulations and experiments at Space Camp.
The Mars Generation will stream exclusively on Netflix starting May 5, 2017.
